A Trip to San Diego

Day 0

H-e-l-l-o 6 AM Flight! Getting to the airport at 430AM is no fun but having the whole day to explore a city is great!

After landing i took an uber to Coronado Island. After getting here I stopped by the CVS for some Sunscreen cause I traveled with a carry on only so be sun aware! Then I had an unfortunate food mis-adventure. So some times food adventures are a bust. The "well reviewed" coffee shop I stopped in on the island was not real great after a couple swings and misses, I ended up going to the Park Place Liquor & Deli for a surprisingly good rye bread BLT sandwich.

I walked down to coronado beach and had a blast seeing the pacific ocean for the first time and watching a volleyball competition! This was my first up close view of the Pacific Ocean!

I rented a Beach Chair and sat by the water and then wondered around the historic Hotel del Coronado

After my earlier mis adventures with coffee I was craving something that was not a gamble and close to the hotel. Puesto is a California chain and was a good tasting safe dinner option before I crashed and hoped to survive daylight savings without to much pain

Day 2: Balboa Park & Little Italy

Started the day with Modern Times Coffee at The Invigatorium 10/10 vibes that gave Dino / Art Deco / Jungle / Disco. Great Breakfast and a Divine Cardamom Flat white.

Next on the agenda Balboa Park. Soooo can I write enough ?!?!?

I got to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Japanese's Friendship Garden, walk around the California Tower, see the Cabrillo Bridge view from the Kate O Sessions Cactus Garden. Then I got to have a snack at ARTIFACT at Mingei while waiting on the Spreckels Organ Pavilion 2 pm Sunday Concert!

After the concert we walked the one mile from the park to Mnemonic Coffee. This coffee was great and just the pic-me-up needed to continue strolling along the bay!

Since I am an adult, I opted for desert before dinner at Salt & Straw Ice Cream. Pear and Blue Cheese Ice Cream or Cereal Corn Flake & Jam Ice-cream sound good to you??

Continued on foot about half a mile or so to our chosen dinner for the night at The Lions Share. Our Journey was rewarded with Good Drinks, Great Game Food. Sumac crusted elk was on point! After icing my feet and a hotel nap it was time for tiki at False Idols!

Day 3: SUNRISES. Seals. & Sunsets

Started the day 6 miles south of La Jolla Beach! Started the day with a fantastic 6:30 AM PST coffee at BirdRock Coffee before walking the .25 miles down to watch the sunrise. Next I got Dodo Bird Donuts for a breakfast Burrito and began walking up the coast line!

Stops along my 6 mile walk included: Windansea Beach, La Jolla Tide Pools, Children's Pool La Jolla, Seal Beach, La Jolla Cove, Sea Cave at Gold Fish Point, Coast Walk Trail, and lastly La Jolla Shores Beach where I finally got to put my toes in the pacific!!!!!

After Six(+) miles of wondering about, seal watching and generous sunscreen application... a burger was the prefect way to end my La Jolla adventures. Definitly recoment Jeffs’ Beach Burgers if you also need post walk sustenance!

We got a few delightful drinks in a moody bar known as Polite Provisions. We then walked a little ways to some amazing Tom Ka Soup, Basil Rolls and Hot Tea at Sukho Thai Extraordinaire!!

HELLO WEST COAST SUNSET at Sunset Cliffs!!

Day 4: Rest & Relax at The lafayette Hotel

Started off the day with breakfast at Beginners Diner in the Lafayette Hotel. This historic hotel has just undergone renovations and looked like an eclectic maximalist dream world!

Then I bought a pool pass for the day and and was shocked to find out I had the whole recently renovated pool side studded with history to myself.... it was magical

Hermosa Terrace Park at the North SMR Boundary is where I ended up after a nap. This beach earns the award for my favorite of the trip! Realm Of The 52 Remedies

Winner of best drinks of the trip in my book! This Chinese herbal medicine and tea -themed speakeasy brought crazy creative drinks and was just the right balance of swank envelop pushing drinks, with themed interior, and rave like led filled bathrooms, that all somehow just worked! The appetizers were fabulously delicious also!!

We got to try SOMISOMI's goldfish-shaped waffle cone, stuffed with Nutella, and milk tea soft serve. Before ending the night at a The Taco Stand. I mean who does not wanna end the day with tacos?

Day 5: Leaving on a Jet PLANE

The next morning I had breakfast at Super Cocina with some chilaquiles with salsa verde. Then went to Drift Cafe for some great coffee before a short walk to the beach! Tourmaline Surf Park was an amazing stop and I loved getting to watch the dance between surfers and the waves! I ended the adventure with my feet in the pacific again at the Pacific Beach Pier before catching my noon for my flight back to Atlanta.
