Adventures in Spain: Day 6

written in spain, seville, andalusia, travel, international

We had an early morning again as we got up and and had Churros For Breakfast before continuing on to the Seville bus hub! We went about an half an hour outside of the city and got to see how the Romans forged and shaped this area of Hispania. Our destination was Conjunto Arqueológico de Itálica!

Italica was the first Roman city founded in Hispania and also outside Roman territory.50% or more of Italica has not yet been excavated at all. We got to tour the old village and see some of the excavation sites and the amazing mosaics that cover the floors of the once proud homes

The Itálica amphitheater was built during the reign of emperor Hadrian (who was born in Italica), approximately between the years AD 117 and 138, it was one of the largest in the entire Roman Empire with a capacity of 25,000 spectators. It was used for gladiatorial fights and combats between beasts or men and beasts during ancient Rome. Also obligatory mention that Game of thrones spent time filming here.

Lunch at Fatouch AMAZING Lebanise foodThis was a 10/10 would recommend in Seville. It was so good we nearly went back... which is something I try not to do during the same vacation time frame.

After a siesta we wondered the city and went to visit the famed Plaza De España! Which lived up to its title of one of the most beautiful plazas in the world. Everything was so full of color and vibrant!

We ended the night at Naked & Famous Cocktail Bar where we met some locals who told us about places to eat. They also told us stories about the area and lamented on the fact that there subway was so small due to all of the Roman artifacts that they encounter every time they start to dig. Explaining to us that is why there bus and tram system is more robust than a lot of the places we explored.
