Day 1: Northern California Road Trip!

The next morning we crawled out of bed for some morning views of the valley. and we got this beautiful view of half-dome as we sipped coffee!

We continued our drive about the valley where we saw the chapel, learned about bear safety, and started a morning hike on the mist trail to see the first of many Yosemite waterfalls!

The hike was pretty phenomenal. the trail was about 1.5 miles to vernal falls and 600-ish feet of elevation gain. It was well worth it to see this 317-foot waterfall. We did not continue on to the next water fall but instead headed back to camp to enjoy more of the valley.

The park is so big that it has its own post office, court house, jail, and first aid. This visitors center was under construction, but is was able to see some of the other exhibits that were around the village including this big trees slice! Behind the visitors center there is also the Indian Village of the Ahwahnee. This gives information about the bark-covered homes were used by Miwok people living in Yosemite Valley and about the peoples that lived in the valley.

We ended our first day in valley with diner at The Ahwahnee Lodge's Mural Room! Don't be like me if you go and read about the dress code! they still let me in but it is not worth the worry! The building was gorgeous. I put it on my bucket list to go back and stay least one night in this amazing lodge!

We got to watch sunset from the glass pain windows in the Mural Room and it was magical!

Post dinner we headed back to curry village and got to see the lodge glowing in the night next to half-dome. It was super cool.
