Day 2: American Southwest Road Trip!
The next morning I woke up to my first views of Guadalupe Mountains National Park. I am not gonna lie getting up was hard this day because the night before it had been a high winds warning. My car camping was not as much fun due to the wind rocking my car a bit and the lack of sound sleep I got.
After fighting the wind to get my jetboil up and going for a cup of coffee it was time to hike devils hall! This amazing trail challenged me. It starts with an up hill climb and then transitions to some bolder scrambles. The view was worth every step of the hike!
Post hike I ventured to some other areas of the park and got to learn more about the permian basin and the amazing geological history there!
After the night before I decided to leave the mountains early and find a hotel since it was predicted to be another high winds night. On my way out I stopped to get pictures of El Capiton, the iconic mountain structure that the Guadalupe Mountains National Park is known for!
On my way south to the odd little town of Marfa I saw some of our boarder surveillance taxpayer funded blimps. For the love of country y'all... please get rid of your ring cameras and tell your local representatives not to use FLOCK.
So Marfa is an odd little town that was super fun and quirky to investigate. It is a super arts focused town with odd hours and a funky vibe!
I was able to catch sunset from the Marfa Lights viewing area and see some of those iconic "unexplained" lights, twinkling out in the distance. After sunset it was time to retire to the hotel!!
