Day 3: American Southwest Road Trip!
The next morning I left Marfa at sunrise, fueled up on gas and headed south to Big Bend National Park. A javelina greeted me right before I entered the park and I took it as a sign that the trip was gonna be amazing!
Of course what park trip would be complete with out a NPS Park Sign Photo!!!
Shortly after entering the park I got to visit the Fossil/Geology Exhibits! Seeing how many fossils and how large of fossils had been discovered was amazing. I learned so much about the area!
Next up was the mandatory stop at the visitors center, and time to refuel cause Texas is big yall!
I slowly started to drive the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. This road let me see the ruins of Sam Nail Ranch and learn about how natural springs affected the area. I got to go by Mules Ears Overlook and the Sotol Vista Overlook. Two ICONIC areas of the park.
The Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive end at the Santa Elena Canyon. in 2025 this area is at risk for a DHS boarder wall. This natural wonder may forever be changed based on DHS and the 47th presidents want to place barriers that would harm the environment of the park. The hike was amazing and lead to absolutely movie worth views that took my breath away.
After the hike I drove back up the scenic byway and caught sunset in the Chisos Basin. Specifically, I went to the window view overlook and marveled at how the sun played with the parks geological features before making camp in the chisos basin!
